“@tightcontrol” is a phrase used by visual artist and creative consultant Zoe Partington in her neon artwork. Zoe chose this term as it was often used in the clinics by nurses without clear reference to context when she was pregnant and it felt at times quite controlling. Zoe used the handle originally for her Twitter account; anyone with diabetes will understand the reference. Partington’s work often incorporates slogans designed by her and from the disability rights movement, using neon signs to highlight issues of control and autonomy experienced by disabled individuals.
